Performance management and the effective use of data to inform instruction are at the forefront education reform. Many education organizations have developed successful systems that collect and report data from disparate source systems through a set of user-friendly dashboard tools.

While these systems work well for a single education organization, they have not been designed in a way that is modular and sharable with the public. Leveraging the knowledge of others and building a set of tools that incorporate best practices allow LEAs, SEAs, and related education organizations to replicate this work more cost effectively and efficiently. This in turn, creates an environment of continuous improvement that ultimately benefits all stakeholders in the education system – most expanding improvement of student outcomes on a wider scale than has been possible in the past.

This resource helps people in both a business and technical role understand the key concepts, planning and resources necessary to create a performance management system.

The documents shared here are in draft form and are based on Phase 2 of the District Connections Database project. The site content will continue to be updated to reflect experiences and observations from future phases.
